They’ll explore what a podcast is, how it has grown in popularity, and why it has become such a powerful way to share stories, ideas, and information. Through age-appropriate discussion and listening activities, children gain an understanding of how podcasts are used in everyday life, helping them see audio as a creative and accessible form of communication.

  • Children will be guided through the basics of GarageBand, a widely used audio creation app that makes podcasting fun and achievable. They’ll learn how the software is used to record, organise, and shape audio, building confidence with digital tools along the way. By working within a structured project, pupils develop practical skills while discovering how technology can support creativity, teamwork, and clear communication.

  • The workshop gives pupils the opportunity to record spoken audio using professional-style equipment and learn how to improve it through simple editing techniques. They’ll also explore how music can enhance a podcast by creating short intro and outro pieces using built-in instruments. This process encourages listening skills, decision-making, and creativity, while keeping the focus on producing polished, high-quality audio.

  • By the end of the session, pupils will understand the journey from initial idea to finished podcast. They’ll learn how audio projects are prepared and shared, reinforcing a sense of achievement and pride in their work.
